Make Votes Matter is the national movement for Proportional Representation

Local and Community Groups

To find and collaborate with similar people in a fun, structured and effective way, activists form groups.

There are two types of groups:

  • Local groups, that are formed for a particular area or region
  • Community groups, that are formed based on a shared community, issue, or form of activism

Combined, our groups form an unstoppable coalition for change.

What groups do for the campaign

  • Win media coverage – create and share content across local or national press and social media
  • Influence key public figures – reach out to politicians, celebrities, or journalists through direct contact or shared networks
  • Reach new people – post on social media and online forums, use existing networks, or speak at events

How groups work

We want our groups to be autonomous. You will have your own ideas for how to achieve our goals.

All groups need to do is:

  • Have a WhatsApp channel
  • Keep us updated about your group and its activities
  • Support days of action and other major events
  • Follow our activist principles
