We are a grassroots movement campaigning for Proportional Representation (PR) in the UK. Our mission is to build a fairer, more representative democracy by empowering local activists, community groups, and citizens to take action. We believe in a politics where every voice counts equally — and we’re building a movement to make that a reality.

Our ability to deliver our new three-year strategy rests on harnessing the power of grassroots activists to put pressure on the Government and political parties; we need an ambitious community organiser to support this work. You will be a core part of the team, working closely with the Campaigns and Volunteers Manager to facilitate the grassroots movement.

• Location: Remote role with hot-desking office space in Westminster
• Basis: Full-time with flexible hours. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Purpose of the Role

To build and support grassroots networks that campaign for Proportional Representation, empowering activists and volunteer-led groups to take meaningful, coordinated action.

Key Responsibilities

Grassroots Movement Building

• Expand and support our network of local activists and volunteer-led groups, including new “interest groups” such as MVM Teachers.

• Arrange and deliver training sessions on campaigning, lobbying MPs, media engagement, and community organising.

• Provide one-to-one support to key volunteers to help them grow their impact.

• Organise national and regional events — including campaign meetings, rallies, and local workshops.

• Develop resources and toolkits to help activists campaign effectively.

• Facilitate peer-learning networks, enabling group leaders to share best practices.

• Ensure an inclusive and accessible organising approach that engages diverse communities.

Activist Engagement

• Manage grassroots communication channels (e.g., WhatsApp groups).

• Facilitate local group forums and national activist calls.

• Produce weekly emails to keep supporters engaged and informed.

• Activate and support local group leaders to grow mailing lists and expand their reach.

• Coordinate grassroots lobbying efforts to engage MPs, councillors, and decision-makers.

• Oversee collateral management, including creating and distributing campaign materials (packs, leaflets, posters).

 

Essential

• Experience in grassroots organising, activism, or movement-building.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, engage, and support volunteers.

• Experience delivering training, workshops, or coaching for activists or community groups.

• Passion for democracy, social justice, and political reform.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Collaborative team player.

• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and ensuring all communities are represented.

Desirable

• • Experience working on political or issue-based campaigns.

  • Knowledge of the UK’s electoral system and democratic structures.

  • Experience in digital organising and online activism.

  • Familiarity with lobbying tactics and local government engagement.
