The Representation of the People Bill will have its Second Reading on the 2nd of March.

The Bill touches on many aspects of our democracy that need to be addressed, but it doesn’t meet the scale of the challenge. There’s a lot in it that’s positive and necessary: from new rules to tackle dark money in politics, to a more automated process for voter registration. 

There’s also a huge, impossible-to-ignore gap. The Representation of the People still leaves most people without representation. The broken First Past the Post voting system is left untouched.
